The Small Temple, also known as the Temple of Nefertari or the Temple of Hathor, is dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari, the royal wife of Ramses II. Its façade includes statues of Ramses II and Nefertari, each about 10 meters (33 feet) high, showing the important position of Queen Nefertari in the royal and religious program of the site.
Both temples were relocated during the 1960s UNESCO Nubian monuments rescue campaign to protect them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser after the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the construction, relocation, religious scenes, and historical importance of the site.

Cruise Notes

  • If you book your arrival to Aswan by yourself, whether by flight, train, or private vehicle, it is recommended to arrange your arrival between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM so the cruise embarkation and first-day sightseeing program can be arranged comfortably without rushing or missing any included visits.
  • If you book your arrival to Abu Simbel by yourself, whether by flight or private vehicle, it is recommended to arrange your arrival between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM so the cruise embarkation and Abu Simbel sightseeing program can be arranged comfortably without rushing or missing any included visits.
  • For early flights or trains, we recommend arriving one day before the cruise starts to avoid delays affecting the first-day sightseeing program.
  • If you book your departure from Abu Simbel by yourself, whether by flight or private vehicle, it is recommended to arrange your departure after 10:00 AM so the final disembarkation, luggage handling, and transfer arrangements can be completed comfortably without rushing.
  • If you book your departure from Aswan by yourself, whether by flight, train, or private vehicle, it is recommended to arrange your departure after 4:00 PM so the final sightseeing program, disembarkation, and transfer arrangements can be completed comfortably without rushing or missing any included visits.
  • For late flights or trains after disembarkation, we recommend keeping enough time after 12:00 PM for transfers, luggage handling, and airport or train station procedures.
  • Extra days can be added in Luxor, Cairo, or Aswan before or after the cruise as part of a longer Egypt itinerary.
  • Domestic flights can also be arranged from Cairo to Aswan, Aswan to Cairo, Abu Simbel to Aswan, or Aswan to Abu Simbel according to the cruise direction and available flight schedule.
  • If there is no suitable flight from Abu Simbel, a private road transfer between Abu Simbel and Aswan can be arranged. Abu Simbel is located about 280 km / 174 miles southwest of Aswan, with an approximate driving time of 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes.
  • Lake Nasser Cruise sailing routes and visit order may change according to lake navigation conditions, docking permissions, and final cruise operation.
  • Some visits may be reordered by the cruise operator according to Lake Nasser navigation conditions, but the included sightseeing will remain as confirmed whenever possible.
  • The Abu Simbel Sun Festival takes place around 22 February and 22 October each year, when the rising sun illuminates the inner sanctuary of the Great Temple of Ramses II.
  • Lake Nasser cruises sailing around the Abu Simbel Sun Festival dates may operate with special sightseeing arrangements due to the large number of visitors in Abu Simbel. Visit times, transfers, and the order of the program may be adjusted according to local arrangements and cruise operations.
  • If you would like to experience the Abu Simbel Sun Festival, early booking is strongly recommended because cruise cabins, domestic flights, and accommodation in Abu Simbel can have limited availability around these dates.
  • Abu Simbel Sound and Light Show can be added at additional charge if available during your stay in Abu Simbel.
  • Sunrise African Dreams Cruise can be combined with a Nile Cruise between Luxor and Aswan, Cairo sightseeing, Giza Pyramids tour, Abu Simbel road trip, or a full Egypt tour package.
  • Early booking is recommended because Lake Nasser cruises have limited sailing dates and limited cabin availability, especially during winter, peak travel seasons, and the Abu Simbel Sun Festival periods.
  • You can also check our Lake Nasser Cruises for more Lake Nasser cruise options.
  • If you are planning a longer Egypt program, you can also check our Egypt Tour Packages and Egypt Travel Packages.

Cruise Resources

Your Sunrise African Dreams Cruise booking is confirmed once the requested sailing date, sailing direction, cabin category, guide service, transfers, and included sightseeing program have been checked and confirmed, and the required deposit payment has been received.

After payment confirmation, you will receive the final booking details, including the confirmed sailing direction, cabin category, pickup time, meeting point, transfer arrangements, and cruise itinerary.

Please make sure that all traveler names, contact details, travel dates, pickup and drop-off information, and any special requests are provided accurately. Your booking confirmation, itinerary, and invoice will be prepared based on the information submitted.

A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your cruise cabin, transfers, sightseeing arrangements, guide services, and all other included services.

The remaining 75% balance may be paid in full or divided into 3 installments of 25% each, depending on your preference. The full booking amount must be completely settled no later than 7 days before the cruise date.

For payment security, the deposit, balance, and any installment payments are accepted exclusively by international bank wire transfer. Complete bank details and payment instructions will be provided after the booking arrangements and availability have been confirmed.

Any bank charges, transaction fees, correspondent bank fees, or transfer fees are the responsibility of the guest. These charges may vary depending on the bank or payment service used, so please check the applicable fees in advance and ensure that the full required amount is received.

Your reservation is only guaranteed once the required deposit has been received and confirmed. An official invoice is issued for every payment received, providing a clear record of the total booking amount, payments made, and remaining balance.

Cancellation fees for Sunrise African Dreams Cruise depend on the cancellation date and cruise booking conditions.

  • Cancellation more than 75 days before the cruise date: Free cancellation
  • Cancellation from 60 to 75 days before the cruise date: 25% cancellation fee
  • Cancellation from 45 to 60 days before the cruise date: 50% cancellation fee
  • Cancellation from 30 to 44 days before the cruise date: 75% cancellation fee
  • Cancellation less than 30 days before the cruise date or no-show: 100% cancellation fee

Some cruise bookings, peak-season dates, special offers, and confirmed cabin allocations may have stricter cancellation terms according to the cruise policy.

We don’t believe in charging our guests simply because their travel plans have changed unexpectedly. However, once a booking is confirmed, we reserve your cruise cabin, assign an Egyptologist guide, a private driver, and an air-conditioned vehicle, arrange the required tourism permits, and purchase entrance tickets on your behalf. Any cancellation charge is therefore based on the non-refundable services already booked or paid for, not on a wish to penalize a change of plans.

We will always work to minimize any deduction and refund any recoverable amount back to you.

Children prices are based on the child’s age on the cruise date.

  • 0 - 1.9 years old: Free of charge
  • 2 - 5.9 years old: 25% of the adult price
  • 6 - 11.9 years old: 50% of the adult price
  • 12+ years old: Full adult price

Child pricing applies to children sharing a cabin with adults, according to the cruise cabin policy and availability.

  • Maximum children per cabin: 1 child sharing with 2 adults, or 2 children sharing with 1 adult.
  • 1 child + 1 adult sharing one cabin: No child discount applies. The cabin is charged at the same rate as 2 adults in a double cabin.
  • 2 children in a separate cabin: The cabin is charged at the same rate as 1 adult in a single cabin.

Children must be accompanied by an adult during the cruise, transfers, and sightseeing visits.

Special group rates are available for large groups, families, student groups, companies, corporate teams, organizations, associations, travel agencies, tour operators, and other private groups booking Sunrise African Dreams Cruise.

Group pricing can be arranged based on the total number of travelers, number and type of cabins required, sailing date, sailing direction, and any additional services such as private transfers, airport pickup, hotel pickup, private sightseeing, or special arrangements for the group.

Companies and corporate groups can also request customized cruise arrangements for business trips, incentive travel, team travel, private group departures, and organized company holidays.

To receive a customized group quotation, please contact us with your preferred sailing date, sailing direction, number of travelers, required cabin types, pickup and drop-off locations, and any special requests for your group.

Please bring your passport, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, personal medication, and sufficient cash for personal expenses, drinks not included in the cruise package, optional activities, or tipping.

We also recommend carrying a small day bag for sightseeing visits, especially during excursions in Aswan, Abu Simbel, Kalabsha Temples, Wadi El Seboua, and other archaeological sites.

For airport transfers, train station pickup, cruise check-in arrangements, security procedures, and certain sightseeing permissions, passport details may be required before the cruise date.

Please ensure that your passport is valid for your travel dates and send the requested passport information in advance whenever required for cruise arrangements or transportation services.

If you have any special requests, please mention them when sending your booking request so they can be reviewed and arranged in advance whenever possible.

Special requests may include a specific Egyptologist guide language, preferred cabin location or bed configuration, child sharing arrangements, wheelchair or mobility assistance, dietary requirements, allergies, birthday or anniversary arrangements, honeymoon requests, private celebrations, early or late transfers, and different pickup or drop-off locations.

Please also provide details of any medical, accessibility, transportation, or service requirements that may affect the cruise arrangements or sightseeing visits.

All special requests are subject to cruise availability, operating conditions, sailing schedules, safety regulations, supplier approval, and final confirmation. Some requests may involve an additional charge.

Tipping is not included in the Sunrise African Dreams Cruise price and is entirely optional. It is generally given as a gesture of appreciation for good service during transfers, sightseeing tours, and the cruise.

Suggested tipping ranges:

  • Private driver or representative: $2 - $5 per person per service
  • Cruise staff: $2 - $5 per person per night
  • Egyptologist guide: $2 - $5 per person per day

These amounts are only general guidelines and are not mandatory. You may give more or less depending on the level of service and your personal satisfaction.

Tips can be given directly to the driver, representative, guide, or cruise staff at the end of their service or at the end of the cruise.

Lake Nasser Cruise boats have a limited number of cabins and depart only once per week in each direction, so early booking is strongly recommended. Cabins sell out several weeks ahead during peak seasons and around the February and October Solar Alignment dates. To book, contact WOW Egypt Tours via the contact page, WhatsApp, or email at booking@WOWEgyptTours.com. A deposit secures your cabin with the balance payable before or upon arrival in Egypt. A dedicated advisor manages your full cruise package from first inquiry through to the end of your trip with no hidden charges. Browse all available options on the Lake Nasser Cruises page, or use the Tailor-Made Experience tool to combine your cruise with additional Egypt destinations.

Yes. The Lake Nasser Cruise is well suited to families travelling with children. The 5-star cruise boats offer comfortable cabins, full-board dining, open sun decks, swimming pools, and a relaxed pace with shore visits spread across the itinerary. Children aged 2 to 5 are charged 25% of the adult price, children aged 6 to 11 are charged 50%, and children under 2 travel free when sharing a cabin with parents. The WOW Team can advise on the best cabin configuration and itinerary for families of different sizes and ages.

Lake Nasser Cruises depart year-round. The most comfortable months for sailing and outdoor sightseeing at the temples are October through April, when temperatures in southern Egypt are mild. May through September brings intense heat, though cruises continue to operate and the temples are far less crowded during this period. Christmas, New Year, and Easter are peak periods with higher prices and earlier booking requirements. Travelers interested in the Abu Simbel Solar Alignment should plan their cruise around 22 February or 22 October. The WOW Team advises on the best travel dates based on your preferences and budget.

Yes. An optional evening Sound and Light Show at the Abu Simbel Temples is available on all Lake Nasser Cruise itineraries. Because the cruise docks at Abu Simbel overnight, travelers have the rare opportunity to visit both temples in full daylight with a professional Egyptologist guide and then experience the illuminated Sound and Light Show after dark. The WOW Team arranges all tickets and transfers for the show as part of your cruise program on request.

The Abu Simbel Solar Alignment is an ancient astronomical phenomenon that occurs twice a year, on 22 February and 22 October, when the rising sun travels 65 metres through the entrance of the Great Temple of Ramesses II and illuminates the seated statues of Ramesses II, Amun-Ra, and Ra-Horakhty in the innermost sanctuary, while the statue of Ptah, god of darkness, remains unlit. This was deliberately engineered by the ancient builders over 3,000 years ago. Travelers wishing to witness this event should book their Lake Nasser Cruise well in advance as departures closest to these dates fill earlier than any other in the sailing calendar.

A Lake Nasser Cruise and a classic Luxor and Aswan Nile Cruise are two entirely different cruisings. The Nile Cruise sails between Luxor and Aswan visiting Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, and Kom Ombo. The Lake Nasser Cruise sails south of Aswan on a vast remote reservoir visiting relocated Nubian temples including Abu Simbel, Amada, and Wadi El Seboua that are completely inaccessible on a standard Nile Cruise. For the most complete Egypt river journey, WOW Egypt Tours recommends combining both.

Every Lake Nasser Cruise package includes a professional Egyptologist guide for all temple visits, a private air-conditioned vehicle and driver for all shore transfers, full-board accommodation on board with breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, a private high-deck cabin with en-suite bathroom and balcony, all entrance fees to every site on the itinerary, and all service charges and taxes. Domestic flights between Cairo, Aswan, and Abu Simbel can be added when required. There are no hidden costs. Always verify inclusions on each individual cruise page before booking.

The Lake Nasser Cruise visits a series of ancient Nubian temples relocated before the lake's waters rose after the construction of the Aswan High Dam, many of which are accessible only by water. Sites visited include the Abu Simbel Temples, Amada Temple, Wadi El Seboua, Kalabsha Temple, Derr Temple, the Tomb of Pennut, Dakka Temple, and Maharraqa Temple, along with panoramic views of Qasr Ibrim from the water. In Aswan, the program includes Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the Aswan High Dam.

Lake Nasser Cruises run on two itinerary lengths. The 5 Days / 4 Nights Lake Nasser Cruise from Aswan to Abu Simbel departs every Monday from Aswan and is the most popular option, allowing a relaxed pace across the full temple route. The 4 Days / 3 Nights Lake Nasser Cruise from Abu Simbel to Aswan departs every Friday from Abu Simbel and sails north. Both itineraries visit the same core temples and monuments along Lake Nasser.

WOW Egypt Tours offers three 5-star Lake Nasser Cruises sailing between Aswan and Abu Simbel. The Mövenpick Prince Abbas Lake Nasser Cruise starts from $803 per person, the Sunrise African Dreams Lake Nasser Cruise starts from $937 per person, and the Steigenberger Omar El Khayam Lake Nasser Cruise starts from $1,004 per person. All three operate 4-day and 5-day itineraries and include a professional Egyptologist guide, private air-conditioned transfers, full board on board, a private cabin with en-suite bathroom and balcony, and all entrance fees throughout.
