  • If you book your arrival to Aswan by yourself, whether by flight, train, or private vehicle, it is recommended to arrange your arrival before 12:00 PM so the cruise embarkation and first-day sightseeing program can be arranged comfortably without rushing or missing any included visits.
  • For early flights or trains, we recommend arriving one day before the cruise starts to avoid delays affecting the first-day sightseeing program.
  • If you book your departure from Luxor by yourself, whether by flight, train, or private vehicle, it is recommended to arrange your departure after 4:00 PM so the Luxor disembarkation and Luxor sightseeing program after checkout can be completed comfortably without rushing or missing any included visits.
  • If you book your departure from Aswan by yourself, whether by flight, train, or private vehicle, it is recommended to arrange your departure after 4:00 PM so the Aswan disembarkation and Aswan sightseeing program after checkout can be completed comfortably without rushing or missing any included visits.
  • For late flights or trains after disembarkation, we recommend keeping enough time after the sightseeing program, transfers, luggage handling, and airport or train station procedures.
  • Private Dahabiya Nile Cruise arrangements can be requested for families, private groups, special occasions, and custom travel programs.
  • Extra days can be added in Luxor, Aswan, Cairo, or Hurghada before or after the Dahabiya cruise as part of a longer Egypt itinerary.
  • Domestic flights can also be arranged from Cairo to Luxor, Luxor to Cairo, Cairo to Aswan, or Aswan to Cairo according to the cruise direction and available flight schedule.
  • Dahabiya sailing routes and stop order may change according to Nile conditions, sailing permissions, docking availability, and final cruise operation.
  • Some visits may be reordered by the Dahabiya operator according to Nile navigation conditions, but the included sightseeing will remain as confirmed whenever possible.
  • Swimming or kayaking is arranged only when weather, Nile conditions, and Dahabiya safety rules allow.
  • Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor can be added at additional charge if available during your stay in Luxor.
  • Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temples can be added at additional charge if available during your stay in Luxor.
  • Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple can be added at additional charge if available during your stay in Aswan.
  • Abu Simbel day tour from Aswan by road or by flight can be added before or after the cruise if your travel schedule allows.
  • Merit II Dahabiya Cruise can be combined with Luxor sightseeing, Aswan sightseeing, Abu Simbel trip, Cairo sightseeing, Giza Pyramids tour, Lake Nasser Cruise, or a full Egypt tour package.
  • Early booking is recommended because Dahabiya Nile Cruises have limited cabins and limited sailing dates, especially during winter and peak travel seasons.
  • You can also check our Dahabiya Nile Cruises for more Dahabiya cruise options.
  • If you are planning a longer Egypt program, you can also check our Egypt Tour Packages and Egypt Travel Packages.

Cruise Resources

Your Merit II Dahabiya Cruise booking is confirmed once the requested sailing date, sailing direction, cabin category, guide service, transfers, and included sightseeing program have been checked and confirmed, and the required deposit payment has been received.

After payment confirmation, you will receive the final booking details, including the confirmed sailing direction, cabin category, pickup time, meeting point, transfer arrangements, and cruise itinerary.

Please make sure that all traveler names, contact details, travel dates, pickup and drop-off information, and any special requests are provided accurately. Your booking confirmation, itinerary, and invoice will be prepared based on the information submitted.

A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your cruise cabin, transfers, sightseeing arrangements, guide services, and all other included services.

The remaining 75% balance may be paid in full or divided into 3 installments of 25% each, depending on your preference. The full booking amount must be completely settled no later than 7 days before the cruise date.

For payment security, the deposit, balance, and any installment payments are accepted exclusively by international bank wire transfer. Complete bank details and payment instructions will be provided after the booking arrangements and availability have been confirmed.

Any bank charges, transaction fees, correspondent bank fees, or transfer fees are the responsibility of the guest. These charges may vary depending on the bank or payment service used, so please check the applicable fees in advance and ensure that the full required amount is received.

Your reservation is only guaranteed once the required deposit has been received and confirmed. An official invoice is issued for every payment received, providing a clear record of the total booking amount, payments made, and remaining balance.

Cancellation fees for Merit II Dahabiya Cruise depend on the cancellation date and cruise booking conditions.

  • Cancellation more than 75 days before the cruise date: Free cancellation
  • Cancellation from 60 to 75 days before the cruise date: 25% cancellation fee
  • Cancellation from 45 to 60 days before the cruise date: 50% cancellation fee
  • Cancellation from 30 to 44 days before the cruise date: 75% cancellation fee
  • Cancellation less than 30 days before the cruise date or no-show: 100% cancellation fee

Some cruise bookings, peak-season dates, special offers, and confirmed cabin allocations may have stricter cancellation terms according to the cruise policy.

We don’t believe in charging our guests simply because their travel plans have changed unexpectedly. However, once a booking is confirmed, we reserve your cruise cabin, assign a private Egyptologist guide, a private driver, and an air-conditioned vehicle, arrange the required tourism permits, and purchase entrance tickets on your behalf. Any cancellation charge is therefore based on the non-refundable services already booked or paid for, not on a wish to penalize a change of plans.

We will always work to minimize any deduction and refund any recoverable amount back to you.

Children prices are based on the child’s age on the cruise date.

  • 0 - 1.9 years old: Free of charge
  • 2 - 5.9 years old: 25% of the adult price
  • 6 - 11.9 years old: 50% of the adult price
  • 12+ years old: Full adult price

Child pricing applies to children sharing a cabin with adults, according to the cruise cabin policy and availability.

  • Maximum children per cabin: 1 child sharing with 2 adults, or 2 children sharing with 1 adult.
  • 1 child + 1 adult sharing one cabin: No child discount applies. The cabin is charged at the same rate as 2 adults in a double cabin.
  • 2 children in a separate cabin: The cabin is charged at the same rate as 1 adult in a single cabin.

Children must be accompanied by an adult during the cruise, transfers, and sightseeing visits.

The optional Sunrise Hot Air Balloon ride is available for children aged 6 years and above only.

Special group rates are available for large groups, families, student groups, companies, corporate teams, organizations, associations, travel agencies, tour operators, and other private groups booking Merit II Dahabiya Cruise.

Group pricing can be arranged based on the total number of travelers, number and type of cabins required, sailing date, sailing direction, and any additional services such as private transfers, airport pickup, hotel pickup, private sightseeing, or special arrangements for the group.

Companies and corporate groups can also request customized cruise arrangements for business trips, incentive travel, team travel, private group departures, and organized company holidays.

To receive a customized group quotation, please contact us with your preferred sailing date, sailing direction, number of travelers, required cabin types, pickup and drop-off locations, and any special requests for your group.

Please bring your passport, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, personal medication, and sufficient cash for personal expenses, drinks not included in the cruise package, optional activities, or tipping.

We also recommend carrying a small day bag for sightseeing visits, especially during excursions in Luxor, Aswan, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and other archaeological sites.

For airport transfers, train station pickup, cruise check-in arrangements, security procedures, and certain sightseeing permissions, passport details may be required before the cruise date.

Please ensure that your passport is valid for your travel dates and send the requested passport information in advance whenever required for cruise arrangements or transportation services.

If you have any special requests, please mention them when sending your booking request so they can be reviewed and arranged in advance whenever possible.

Special requests may include a specific Egyptologist guide language, preferred cabin location or bed configuration, child sharing arrangements, wheelchair or mobility assistance, dietary requirements, allergies, birthday or anniversary arrangements, honeymoon requests, private celebrations, early or late transfers, and different pickup or drop-off locations.

Please also provide details of any medical, accessibility, transportation, or service requirements that may affect the cruise arrangements or sightseeing visits.

All special requests are subject to cruise availability, operating conditions, sailing schedules, safety regulations, supplier approval, and final confirmation. Some requests may involve an additional charge.

Tipping is not included in the Merit II Dahabiya Cruise price and is entirely optional. It is generally given as a gesture of appreciation for good service during transfers, sightseeing tours, and the cruise.

Suggested tipping ranges:

  • Private driver or representative: $2 - $5 per person per service
  • Cruise staff: $5 - $10 per person per night
  • Private Egyptologist guide: $5 - $10 per person per day

These amounts are only general guidelines and are not mandatory. You may give more or less depending on the level of service and your personal satisfaction.

Tips can be given directly to the driver, representative, guide, or cruise staff at the end of their service or at the end of the cruise.

Frequent Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most asked questions.

This FAQ covers core Egypt travel facts: visa on arrival and e-visa options, safety and health basics, average trip costs and cash/card tips, best months by region, what to wear and pack, local customs and public holidays, weather by season, official language and useful phrases, mobile data/Wi-Fi and SIM cards, transport (flights, trains, taxis, ride-hailing), tipping norms, and guidance for solo travelers and families. Use it to plan quickly and avoid surprises.

Yes. When sending your booking request, you can mention any special request such as a specific guide language, cabin or deck preference, child sharing arrangement, wheelchair assistance, dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free meals, a birthday or anniversary arrangement, a swimming or kayaking request, or different pickup and drop-off points. The WOW Team coordinates each request directly with the Dahabiya operator, subject to availability, sailing conditions, and safety rules, and confirms every arranged detail before your cruise so there are no surprises on board.

Tipping is not included in the Dahabiya Nile Cruise price and remains completely optional, given directly at the end of the service if you are happy with it. As a general guide: $2 to $5 per person per service for the private driver or representative, $5 to $10 per person per day for the private Egyptologist guide, and $5 to $10 per person per night for the Dahabiya crew and staff. It is useful to carry some cash in small notes for tipping and personal expenses, as card payment is not always available at temples and villages along the route.

The island and village stops are the part of the Dahabiya Nile Cruise that no large ship can offer. At quiet islands such as El Hegz, Herdiab, Besaw, Al Ramady, Maniha, El Sheikh Fadl Island, and Fawaza, you can walk along the riverbank, relax under the palm groves, and swim or kayak when weather, river conditions, and safety rules allow. At riverside villages such as Besaw, and Badr, your guide introduces daily rural life in Upper Egypt, including local houses, farming, livestock, and traditional markets. Some evenings, dinner can be served on the island or riverbank depending on the day itinerary, and the exact stops vary by boat and sailing conditions.

Domestic flights are not included in the standard Dahabiya Nile Cruise price, but the WOW Team can add them to build a complete Dahabiya Nile Cruise from Cairo package. Flights can be arranged from Cairo to Luxor, Luxor to Cairo, Cairo to Aswan, or Aswan to Cairo according to your cruise direction and the available flight schedule, with the flight connecting Cairo to Upper Egypt in approximately one hour. Airport meet and assist and private transfers are coordinated at both ends, so the flight, pickup, and embarkation run as one seamless plan. Browse Egypt tour packages for ready-made Cairo and Dahabiya combinations.

A 25% deposit secures your Dahabiya cabin, private guide, transfers, and included sightseeing. The remaining 75% can be settled in full or divided into 3 installments of 25% each, with all payments completed no later than 7 days before the cruise date, and an official invoice is issued for every payment. Cancellation more than 75 days before the cruise date is free of charge, with staged cancellation fees applying closer to the departure date according to the Dahabiya booking conditions. The WOW Team always works to minimize any deduction and refunds any recoverable amount, and full payment details are sent with your booking confirmation.

Several optional experiences can be added according to your cruise direction and final confirmation. In Aswan, you can add the Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple from $46 per person, or a private Abu Simbel Tour by road or by flight from $120 per person. In Luxor, you can add the Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor from $80 per person, or the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temples from $46 per person. All optional experiences are private and arranged by the WOW Team, subject to operation on the day of your visit.

Arrival time depends on your Dahabiya cruise, which offers two options. If your cruise includes sightseeing before embarkation, arrange your own arrival to Aswan or Luxor before 8:00 AM so the sightseeing program and embarkation can be completed comfortably. If your cruise starts with direct embarkation, arrive before 12:00 PM so the transfer and check-in can run without rushing. For departure, book flights or trains after 4:00 PM on the final day so the last visits, disembarkation, and transfers can be completed without missing any included visits. For very early flights or trains, the WOW Team recommends arriving one day before the cruise starts, and can arrange the extra hotel night in Luxor or Aswan.

Yes, all transfers are included. Depending on the boat and direction, the cruise embarks in Aswan, Luxor, or Esna, which is located about 55 km (34 miles) south of Luxor with a driving time of around 1 hour. Your WOW Egypt Tours representative and private driver meet you at Aswan International Airport (ASW), Luxor International Airport (LUX), the train station, your hotel, or any agreed location, and transfer you by private modern air-conditioned vehicle to the Dahabiya dock. At the end of the cruise, you are transferred to the airport, train station, hotel, or your agreed final location in Luxor or Aswan. If your program starts or ends in Esna, the private road transfer between Esna and Luxor is included.

A Dahabiya is a small-capacity vessel by design. The boats on the WOW Egypt Tours program carry between 6 and 17 cabins and suites, which means a full sailing typically hosts only a small number of guests compared to the hundreds carried by large Nile cruise ships. This small on-board community is what makes the Dahabiya Nile Cruise feel like a private sailing rather than a group tour: quiet decks, personal service from the crew, flexible meal times, and moorings at small islands that big ships cannot reach. Sightseeing is always private for your own group with your own Egyptologist guide, regardless of how many guests are on board.

Both directions of the Dahabiya Nile Cruise visit the same core temples and monuments, so the better direction depends on your travel plans. The 5 Days Luxor to Aswan Dahabiya Cruise gives one extra night on the river, a slower pace, and more island and village stops, making it the best choice for travelers who want the fullest sailing experience. The 4 Days Aswan to Luxor Dahabiya Cruise is the more compact program and works well for travelers arriving from Abu Simbel or a Lake Nasser Cruise, or those with limited time. The WOW Team advises on the best direction based on your flight arrival city and overall Egypt itinerary.
